I want to believe that 'Daybreak will come', so I'm believing in it. Every day is DAY 1, new days will start again. With even just a little bit of hope, people will be able to persist. That's what I'm singing about. Even looking back at my own Musical career, I have always repeated destruction and creation and I'll continue to create a new 1st day. Because doing so, I've obtained the power to believe that I can change the world with my guitar.

Starting last year, musical being and samurai guitarist 雅-MIYAVI-, has been challenged to battle with brilliant artists from all around the world, for "the deeply resonating" 「SAMURAI SESSION WORLD SERIES」. Nationality, Gender and Genre are completely irrelevant. What 雅-MIYAVI- is seeking is merely a musical strength that is overwhelming yet independent. It's been nine months since the birth of the first impact "STRONG", due to the confrontation with KREVA filled with encouragement. Recently 雅-MIYAVI- has given performance at Mihara Yasuhi's show for the Paris Collection, and participated on Nomiya Maki's album 『30-Greatest Self Covers & More!!!-』, including guest appearances/taking part in lives and has piled up diverse collaborations with various artists.

And after waiting until the time was ripe, the series' second volume 「DAY 1」has been released here. 雅-MIYAVI- who has by now produced a great amount of CM music, has for the first time appeared in one himself, and the song for LOTTE ZEUS SNOW STORM TVCF which is currently on air a lot is the very same 「DAY 1」.
Just like the last time with KREVA, he has again been challenged by an unexpected artist this time.

That opponent will be YUKSEK, connected to DAFT PUNK and JUSTICE, he's a man who has an eye for the existence of the new-generation French Electro. He transforms house, techno and disco, as well as rock and hip hop freely into diverse beats. He knows the pleasurable throbbing tunes for a throbbing pop melody for the dance floor. And in that way, the modeling of the track is beautiful due to the French artist's fine programming and editing. The depth and power of the song are branched out endlessly.

What is it that 雅-MIYAVI- seeks from YUKSEK's excellent taste? Is it to raise each other up while fighting each other?

"When I completed the demo for this song, I wanted some strong beats. Strong guitar and strong beats, that's one style I've been able to present in the combo with BOBO (54-71). When I sought to extend even further from there on musically, he gave of the feeling of being a superior artist even within the French dance music scene, He supplied cool and stimulating beats and that's what I wanted."

雅-MIYAVI- was brought to YUKSEK's private studio in the champagne region in France for the recording.

雅-MIYAVI-'s specialty, playing the slap guitar from the instinct flowing from his entire body forms a solid groove. There YUKSEK adds in the baseline that raises the destructive power of the 130BPM strong dance beats and sound. Furthermore, they planned to release the agitating manpower in the hook for the climax trough the conduction of the editing and programming of the SE. 雅-MIYAVI-'s fierce body and YUKSEK's flashy brains dynamically resonate through anything[1]. While tearing up the borders between rock and club music in a creative manner, they're starting a vivid brilliance.

"The recording period was three days. It was the first time I've recorded in France and I experienced that if the atmosphere is different, the sound also changes. The fashion of the people walking around town and the architecture and such were artistic as well and the culture inherited from the past and the new culture from the presence coexist in perfect balance. I had a really pleasant time. YUKSEK is someone who listens to music day and night, his sense of speed in choosing beats and tone color is amazing. Within the various different possibilities for the arrangement, YUKSEK has give the image the demo had a lot of importance from the start. I think that we were able to strongly encourage each other, because my musicianship wasn't in his lexicon, and because I didn't have his musical taste inside of me. Of course, with just human strength, I want to sharpen the intensity of embodying the groove from here on as well, I want to make my own guitar sound into something that is more three dimensional. This song is another challenge for me to get to that point."

We certainly want you to pay attention to the lyrics as well. People are completely dragged into the feelings of stagnation, grimness, nihilism and resignation that is spreading trough the current Japan, it's downright piercing trough them, and he is trying to guide them to a "new day 1" with the strength emitting from his music. 雅-MIYAVI-'s earnest believes and persistent vitality become distinct like that.

"The lyrics for this song are an extension of 'STRONG' as well. While directly opposing the direction of this country, it makes you feel the strength of the vitality and life force this world is filled with, that's the kind of song I wanted to do. Within the days following the Tohoku earthquake, many people were living while carrying feelings of stagnation and grimness and there are still many negative effects, issues, and difficulties left. Nevertheless, I want to believe that 'daybreak will come', so I'm believing in it. Every day is DAY 1, new days will start again. With even just a little bit of hope, people will be able to persist. That's what I'm singing about. Even looking back at my own Musical career, I have always repeated destruction and creation and I'll continue to create a new 1st day. Because doing so, I've obtained the power to believe that I can change the world with my guitar."

M2 is a recording of a rearrangement by YUKSEK for the song「FUTURISTIC LOVE」which is a standard song at lives. We really want you to feel that it has evolved in to a much more futuristic sound.「DAY 1」Has opened a new phase for 雅-MIYAVI-. You too, come on, towards a new musical experience.

[1] This is a figure of speech I think. Miyavi's sound being the "body of the song" while YUKSEK's programming is the "brain behind it" or something along those lines.
